Subjects Taught
Basic Acoustic Guitar, Concert Choir, Music Appreciation

I hold a Bachelors of Music Education degree from Grand Valley State University, with a K-12 certification.

My entire career of 2.5 years has been here, at Shelby Public Schools. I've been teaching 6-12 choir, basic acoustic guitar, and music appreciation. During the summer of 2012, I had the pleasure of being a teachers aid for the preschool age summer school. I'm currently the adjunct professor of Collegiates, an auditioned acapella choir, at West Shore Community College.

As you can see, my name is Scott Emelander, and I'm the vocal music director here at Shelby Public Schools. When not teaching, I enjoy spending time with my incredible and amazing wife, Samantha, and our playful Siberian Husky named Zeke. I love fixing, detailing, and customizing cars and motorcycles. Basically, if it has an engine, I like it. I love the outdoors, and and even though I don't hunt, I'm an avid shooter, hiker, camper, and adventurist. I actually enjoy the "honey do" list, and my wife and I have a great time fixing up our house. I plan on getting my masters in choral conducting or educational technology, and I hope to get my doctoral degree in music education in the future.
